Fostering Moments; celebrating Foster Care Fortnight 2024 with the Fostering Network

This May, Ealing Council are proud to support the Fostering Network’s annual celebration of fostering and the profound impact foster carers have in our communities. Running from Monday 13th May to Sunday 26th May, Foster Care Fortnight 2024 aims to shine a spotlight on the incredible moments foster carers create in the lives of children and young people.

Reflecting on moments

Themed ‘Fostering Moments’, this year’s Foster Care Fortnight emphasises the transformative power of small, everyday actions within foster care that collectively create life-changing experiences. Whether it’s a shared laugh over dinner, guidance through a tough piece of homework, or the comfort of a listening ear during difficult times, every moment matters in fostering.

‘Taking a little one to a wedding for the first time and watching her steal the spotlight by entertaining the young children was a precious moment.  She was excited about going, curious about what a wedding is like, but quickly felt at ease.  She glowed more than the bride.’

‘My young person came down out of blue with open arms for a hug, the very first time and I was taken back and said wow what happen here, she said I just wanted to do that. Hugged her back and said lovely I like that.’
